The Mary Ann P. Lee Memorial Scholarship Fund

press release: 1/7/2021

The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle is pleased to announce the establishment of the Mary Ann P. Lee Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mary Ann (Paganelli) Lee, a resident of Concord, served as a Trustee of The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle where she dedicated her boundless energy to facilitate the awards process for prospective recipients. Mary Ann readily reached out to applicants as she viewed attending college as a priority for her six children, and she embraced taking an active role in making it a viable prospect for other students within the Concord and Carlisle community.

Throughout her life, Mary Ann believed fervently in giving back to her community. She and her husband, Bill, served on the Human Rights Council for Concord’s St. Bernard’s Catholic church (now Holy Family Parish) where they co-founded a tutoring service for children from Emmanuel House in Roxbury. An ardent supporter of the Concord arts, Mary Ann was active for many years in the Friends of the Concord Orchestra. She also served as a volunteer through Emerson Hospital’s Auxiliary, for which she served as president. Because of her longtime service to the Auxiliary, she was eventually named a Corporator of the hospital.

In establishing Mary Ann’s fund, her son, Chris Lee commented, “My mom was an amazing and selfless person who generously shared her time, energy, wisdom and love with her family, friends, neighbors and the community of Concord and beyond.  I can clearly recall all the times she would drop everything at a moment’s notice to help out a neighbor or friend who was in a jam.  My siblings and I cherish the opportunity to see the spirit of her love and work continue through The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle.”

Since 1966, The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle, has supported more than 1,400 students from the Concord and Carlisle communities. For more information on The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle, please visit our website www.thescholarshipfundofcc.org
